stage one
Quality feed stock
Our market leading fuel products are made entirely from residues created by sawmill activities right here in the UK. These residues are the pieces of the tree that are left after manufacturing such items such as decking boards and fence posts, that are unsuitable for further production. We partner with specific selected local sawmills to ensure the sawdust and chip we receive has the perfect properties to manufacture each of our products. The chip is graded on arrival and unsuitable chip is rejected.

Remove the moisture
The water-content of our wood chip is measured on arrival by our onsite labs using sophisticated Sartorius moisture analysers. These moisture levels are then used to ensure we only use the correct amount of heat to dry the chip. The chips are dried in our brand-new state of the art Stela dryers which are powered by electricity we produce ourselves on site. The heat produced during our electrical generation is captured and used to dry the chip. This is an extremely efficient use of energy and actually leaves us with excess electricity which is exported into the local grid.

Pellet production
The chip flows through the driers and then through a series of grinders to ensure that it arrives at the pellet presses with exactly the right particle size to create the perfect pellet. This ground chip continues into the press where it is then extruded through a 6mm die at extremely high pressure to form a pellet. This process is known as densification.

Finishing touches
The newly formed pellets are cooled and conveyored through a series of sieves to remove all the dust. These dust free pellets are then sent into large silos to further cool and store. Samples are taken of every tonne we produce which are tested in our labs to ensure their size, moisture content, bulk density and durability meet the standards required for fuel pellets.

The end result
The pellets are then either packaged into 15kg bags for domestic use, or sent via our own Pellet Blower vehicle or Bulk container to larger industrial systems in Farms, Schools, Hospitals and Industry.
